Lebaron SKS Mailorder

"Collectable SKS"
The term is an absolute oxymoron.

I really don't think there will be one lick of difference between the tradex and the le barons rifles. They all came from Russia and they are all refurbed for the most part.

You can buy a rifle from westrifle, but only if you like spending an extra 100 for nothing. If you do, then get 2, casue you are obviously a smart shopper.

Hi,
i bought 2 sks, one at tradex and the other at lebaron.
Tradex: Exellent
lebaron : Exellent
le baron ship mine and 3 days after i recieve it. Very good quality, shoot great, five star rating for that transaction.
Thank you! Just what I wanted to hear, someone who ordered one from Lebaron and is happy with the rifle they received.

Ouch....that stings.

kinetic, I got my SKS from lebaron, all I can say is that it and all the other ones they have been selling at the Ottawa location look way nicer than every single SKS I saw at the gun show this weekend, also, every one of them cost more money than the le barons rifle.

I scraped off all the red goo the russians pass off as shellak, but that's just my personal preference.

Don't get me wrong dude, I can seriously see the attraction to the SKS, just after shouldering one and having a look at it, they just aren't for me.

hey jeff james, did you try shouldering one with t6 tapco stock big difference in shouldering and feel ,plus adjustable stock I personally hate the feel of standard stock:)

All of the rifles currently offered, whether from LeBaron, Westrifle, or Tradex, are Frankenpinned, therefore Not-Collectible, IMO.

What do I care if the rifle is unissued and mint condition if it's frankenpinned?

I'll take the cheapest option for a shooter, thanks.

Tell us what you really think.

Seriously though, you are quite wrong. LOTS of people collect the SKS, just because you do not is no reason to belittle those that do.

And yes, there is a big difference in fit and finish and value (to a collector) if a gun is a run of the mills refurb vs. an unissued rifle. Westrifle has a place among people who want the best examples. Clearly you aren;t a potential customer of his, but beating up on a dealer simply because you aren;t "into" his products is quite lame.

Sorry to disappoint you but theirs did not come from Russia. No one except for me gets it from Russia. Everyone buys them from ex soviet republic.
And yes there is a difference but I will not go into that. People who know what is the difference buy it from me other who don't buy it from everywhere else.

It is free market after all.

Good luck with your purchases.

Just out of curiosity, which of the ex soviet republics do they buy from?

The Lebaron gun all look fine. I've seen at least 12-15 of them recently as I live close the the Ottawa store. I would still not buy one without a handpick though as actual shooting quality was all over the map.

You've seen 15 of them? They wouldn't let you handpick. I was at the Ottawa store today and was told they have a crap load of them. When I asked the guy if I can pick one he said sure and brought out 2 (two) rifles. One was looking rough the other was an OK but not the greatest. When I asked him to see a couple more he told me "NO you should choose between the two". I was like "see you later" thanks but no thanks. Sure you may luck out and get a nice one from there through mail order but that's like buying a cat in a bag - no guarantees. If you just want a cheap shooter SKS better get a brand new Chinese Arsenal SKS from Crappy Tire for $163. Just my .02 cents.

Ask them for a picture maybe they can send it to you. All you need is about 3-5 shoots of a rifle.

Good luck and let us know how it went.
