so after findign my perfect deer spot i came to the conclusion i need a ground blind for the sweet spot in my little field. soooo i look online and find one in the lebarons catalog that is a)in my budget and b) perfect for my purpose
for 76$ an change and only weighs 9lbs stores away as a back pack so i go done to lebarons to pick it up well i get in ther and start looking around couldnt find it so i ask for help i nfinding it or if they have it in stock and the guy says sorry we dont carry that item here have a look at this $200 one from a differnt company that has this and that and this only weighs 32lbs and comes with these handy little wheel jobbys so i said no not interest i cant be dragging that thing through the bush foran hour to set it up. then i inform him that i had checked online and found this particuler blind in thier new catolog and he says ok well i'll check to see if your right thinking in my head "ok he's just a low paid floor assistant no big deal" he comes back and says yeah it looks like we do have them but we may not have any instock, then i ask nicely if he could check in the back at this poitn i am getting slightly annoyed as the mrs and 2 little ones are still in the jeep and i been in the store 15 minutes so far. he says yes and walks into the back to check comes back 4 minutes later to tell me yes they do have them so i tell great i'll take one, with a sigh and huff he goes back into the stock area and brings it out to me. wow i love lebarons soooo much *insert sarcasm here*
btw this thing rocks in storage condition its a circle disc about 24" in dia. 3 inches thick and weighs squat when carried on the back like a pack. to set it up all you do is slide it out of its sleeve toss it on the ground about 3-4 ft in front of you with a slight flick of the wrist and it pop's up then put the four ground pegs in the corners and your set.

its 4'L X 4'W X 5'T also has the carbon scent lok crap and shoot through camo mesh for windows if your bow hunting camo pattern is timber illusion

Hey,

Same thing happened to me at the store in Montreal, I was trying to buy ammo and I asked for a certain type that the lady just looks around and then says no, this went on a couple of times so I got fed up and went to pay for what I was able to get. Anyways I was paying and I ask the girl behind the counter if they had any of the specific ammo I wanted in the first place and wow sure enough they did, I think they need a lesson in customer service.

If they worked for me.....

If I found out that my people acted like that I'd fire their ass. When I worked retail the customer was right and you provided them with service. Never mind this up selling crap or laziness. If you want an hours pay do an hours work. nuff said:mad:

Wholesale is not that much better. The gun counter here is not that eager to get the next person and they always have time to chat with their buddys who aren't buying s#$%.

I waited patiently in line, or lack there of, with my son for 40 mins while 4 staff walked by almost as if to avoid us.

They are relocating to a new facility. Just maybe they might consider some changes to improve the service and have the staff appear to be concerned about what you may need.

If I don't need to talk talk to anyone then its a great place.

forty minutes

If you had to wait that long for service I would of found the manager and raised hell or what works is writing a letter to head office. My wife does this whenever she gets crappy service at any esablishment. Most of the time she gets a letter of appology and some type of coupon or compensation. I'm sure if head office of Lebarons or WSS got enough letters heads would roll. Bottom line happy customers = higher profits. Money talks

Ten bucks will buy you a great big piece of burlap.
"...head office of Lebarons..." They don't care. They've never cared either. Bought my GP-100 from them when the GP was first available. It was their demo with the bluing scratched on the cylinder. Asked for a better price as it was damaged. Nope. Haven't and wouldn't buy anything else from them.

er...Signguy...sorry for hijacking...just had to share my latest experience.

Powdergun - I feel the same way because I too worked retail and know what that's about. I have written a few letters of recomendation rather than on poor service. The reason being: because I thought it would make a difference for that individual.

In my opinion this situation is different. This is a group and a way of thinking. More difficult to influence. To me it appears like these guys are an "old boys club." From my observations, it's my opinion that they are the type to tell you,or your letter or manager providing the reprimand, to shove it.

I believe it's because its the biggest place in town, the selection is great and they are cocky because of it.

Maybe they can't find the staff?

I'm not the only one that thinks this way. My whole lunch group of hunters sees it the same. If there was enough to make an impact on their $$$ then they would have to listen.

Again, it's my opinion based on my experiences. A letter might be in order here. If nothing else, my satisfaction.:)

I'm going to think long and hard before my next "capital" purchase there.

I once went in (Ottawa store) to order a Savage MK-II BV .22lr, it ended being so much trouble that I called up Wholesale and got it quicker and cheaper by mail order.....no point even going in to that store to buy a rifle.

I was at LeBarons in Ottawa on Monday.Asked to see a Franchi semi-auto 12g.He hands me an over under.I told him semi again. He goes to the back an brings out another O/U in the Box.Send him back for a semi once again and another O/U gets brought to me.I just got fed up and waked out of Gun department.
They also had piss all there I went for.

No targets
No 25cal cleaning brush
No 26-06 dies
Didnt have the red dot I went for
All out of the ladder stand I wanted

I did get 25-06 ammo for $17 a box.I am sure It was marked wrong.

Problem is these stores don't pay and it is hard to get good help for 7 or 8 dollars an hour. I would be firing people left and right if it were my place but I guess they can't get anyone else. I remember years ago I sold my boat and went to buy a new gun my first at Lebaron's and I left still with $1100 in my pocket feeling as if I was wasting thier time. Today it would be like spending $2500

I was in LeBarons in Ottawa on Sat afternoon trying to find some ammo for hunting this year. Got my .338, asked for .300 Savage and the little stain said they were all out. First off, I dont think they know off the top of their head, and even if you do, at least humor me and fake check. I was pissed off anyways after waiting forever, then asked the next girl behind the cash for the same .300 shells and IMAGINE they had some! Had to make a point and GO back to tell the original counter help he was wrong and hope he'd be a little more thourough next time!

Same here,

On their other location in Ottawa, I went to buy a new rifle, a Tikka I wanted but they constantly wanted to show me another brand and I kept saying TIKKA, not a Win nor a Rem, so they said, we don't have it in stock and to order seemed to be too much trouble so I turned around and bought my rifle at wholesales for less, even with the shipping. Too bad but with that customer service, they loose a lot of business.
Went to see their new store on merivale and it's nice and clean but gees, they didn't have what I was looking for  again.. (one piece cleaning rod, camping equip and some ammo boxes) so I asked 2 more staff people and oups.. we have these in stock said another member, wait and I will go in the backstore and get it for you, fine I said, but 5 min after, sorry mister, we don't carry this model, we never did   wtf these guys are so incompetant it a real joke.

You have to show them that it is on their catalog otherwise, the automated answer is: nope, we don't have that and won't look for it. Or the only one in stock is always by pure luck, the most $$$ model.

And if you order something, it takes forever and you need to call them day after day because they don't call you back when it arrives, this is just plain bad service.

That said, there is not many store in town and the prices are good, so yes I keep going but each time I never know if they will have it in stock or cary the item even if it's on their catalogue.

Doncha' just love that Gallic charm:eek:

Hey, now you don't have to take that trip to France....you can be abused and ignored here at home! Think of all the money you saved!!

But seriously folks someone should email them a link to this thread. Or maybe they know about this but couldn't give a "rats ass":dancingbanana:

They DO know about it.

I was in the Ottawa store talking to that guy at the cash with the curly hair. We got to talking about these sights and what is said. He just laughs it all off.

I agree with you guys, the Lebaron's store is a joke. Customer service is terrible. Its almost as if they all meet in the morning and ##### at each other, to get each other in a bad mood, then go to work on the floor.

General rule of thumb I follow for Lebaron's is, if it is in their catalog, they DON'T have it in the store.

The New store is bigger, and brighter but just as poorly stocked. The staff is the same staff I have seen in there for years, except that they have a newer manager. After that female manager they had from Montreal was fired, a new guy came in and apparently is supposedly "trying" to turn things around. Yeah LOL !....the only way to get any respect would be to turn over the staff and get them some serious customer service training.

My uncle, who spends a fortune in that store in Ottawa, purchased a Complete Browing Gortex outfit, plus other things for his son for Graduation. When his son went in with his sister to see if it had come in yet, he was met by the previous manager on the floor, and she treated him like ####, and basically berated him on the store floor. Asking him " why did HE want to know if there was any stock of that item. She was down right rude etc. ( p.s he is not a kid, he is in his late 20's )
When my uncle found out, he left work and drove to the store, found the manager and in front of dozens of customers ripped a strip off of her.
#### like that is unacceptable.
My wife went to the Lebaron's store several weeks ago, and asked if they could get a pair of Browning pants, the guy behind the counter laughed at her and said not possible. She also ordered me a pair of gloves over 2 months ago - not in yet.
P.S - Action Sports ordered the pants we wanted, although they are still not in, they were willing to order them.

If there was any real competition for them in Ottawa, the competition would win hands down.

Man some of you folks are really tolerant of bad service, stop supporting such jerks!

OMG when I worked in retail these types of staff would have been fired on the spot.

Nice to see that they are consistent. In Montreal Le Barons are rude and under stocked on most of the hunting / shooting products. I once called them to find out if they had Clays powder the guy tells me yes. I drove down on my lunch hour only to find out that they were out of stock. They tried to sell me another type of powder but I refused to purchase it. That night I went to a store about 20km from my place to see if they had the Clays powder in stock. They had it in the depot in the back and he couldn't get to the depot right there and then. He promised that he would go to the depot before they closed the store and on his way home he would drop it off at my place. Now that is customer service!

the baron's downtown mtl. is a yuppie haven but not too bad.the one on st.laurent street is better stocked than all the rest but customer service sucks big time.there is one in new bordeaux/cartierville beside the 15 autoroute and they actually seem rather nice.they are more into sports other than hunting but the guy behind the gun counter was friendly and i would consider him politically a cgn'er.
