Anybody else having issues with the WinClean 9mm BEB ammo from Lebarons?

I bought 1000 rds from Lebarons in Markham about 1-2 months ago and this batch has been giving me extraction problems. It's so bad that at times after firing the slide wouldn't move far back enough to eject the fired round. No squib loads yet and I've never have an issue with any factory 9mm ammo ever.

I use a Glock most of the time and it will cycle anything. I have over 2,000 rounds through my Glock and not one jam, missfire or cycling problem. I use alot of the Winclean, but its from Marstar.

I have tried this ammo in both my Sigs and my Glock which has well over 50,000 rounds through it, it worked well in all my guns, but you may have a bad lot if it is not working in other guns.

From my experience this is common with Winclean 9mm ammunition and certain pistols; it doesn't have the "required" (or consistent?) energy required to work the slide.

You are not the first I've heard with this complaint. I've experienced it in the Steyr M9. My friend has experienced the same problem in his Baby Eagle.

It's good for range plinking (all we can do here anyway), but just be aware that is might not cycle properly.

I had the same problems in my Norico NP-29.

Might be due to the heavy slide but I never had these problems with other brands.

I'll try some in my other 9mm next time I go to the range.

I havent had a problem with the WinClean 9mm's. Thats all we have been shooting out of the glock 17 and the beretta 90-two.

I've noticed the same thing. Was at the range on Sunday and had 2 FTE shooting Winchester 9mm 115G FMJ.
Using it in and STI Trojan. It ended up damaging my ejector.:(

3 FTE out of 400 rounds of Winclean 124g in a friend's G17 this weekend. Pretty clean ammo but sure is smokey!

^I'm positive it's coming off from the same batch from Winchester. Luckily I've already used all of them and no need to worry about that. I think I'll stay away from Lebarons for a while before I'd go back to buy some more WinClean stuff.

never an issue. Clean behind your extractor.

I will second that. BIG TIME. BIIIIIIG TIME. I am sitting here after launching a hundred rounds last night through my Kimber Target II SS. It was failing to extract FTEx (vs. FTEj) every third round. I clean my guns after every shoot. And I clean them well.

Hmmm. Kimber does NOT tell you how to break down the firing pin assembly, which contains the DREADED external extractor! Therefore you must not clean it. WRONG!

Be absolutely sure that you are taking the gun down sufficiently to clean the firing pin assembly and extractor (talking 1911's here... but am sure same applies to most if not all). I got some advice from some knowledgeable fellows on one of the M1911 forums and did just that.

I was ready to change springs, buy 'bullet proof' extractors, tune my extractor, and so on. Not needed it would seem. All I had to do was break the gun down a little further (beyond what the manual shows) and clean it thoroughly with crud cleaner and a good hard bristle brush and VOILA!!! No more FTEx.

I ran everything from Wulf reloads to Winchester white box ammo through it last night and it ate it all and never burped once.

There is much to be said for "Cleanliness is next to godliness" in this regard. So before you start running off to get different ammo, or any of these other drastic measures, I suggest taking the most drastic measure of all.... learn how to disassemble your firearm and clean it. Make sure that the extractor and associated assembly is squeeeeeeky clean and oiled properly.

99% your trouble will disappear.

Try it. You'll like it. I did.

P.S. That was the most satisfying hundred rounds of 9mm I have ever fired in my life! Walked out and drove home with a big grin on my face.

P.P.S. One other thing... make sure that your firing pin is operating properly as well. We had a firing pin recently that was hitting the primer so hard that it was actually punching it... resulting in a less than satisfactory launch due to reduced pressure. Fortunately we had no 'daffy duck barrel' results... but what tipped us off was the volume of smoke at and around the muzzle, as well as some off the paper target hits. Make sure that your firing pin spring is okay and that your firing pin face has not fractured to give you a metal punch instead of a firing pin. In our case, we are going to be replacing the springs I think.

i once had a box of 0.40 SW BEB from Winchester that had 13 out of 50 rounds that were duds. used them in xd-40. there were no issues with xd-40. it was just a bad box of ammo.

on other occassion i had one 0.45 ACP BEB round larger than others so it jammed the gun. i will post the picture of a round in comparison with a good one when i find it.

other than that no other problems.

so, mathematically that is 14 out of 4k rounds that were bad..........

I use a can of WD with the plastic nozzle to flush parts I can't get at easily, or brake clean, but you must make sure you oil it well after.
