Lee–Metford

The 1900 yd was sighted for a theoretical 2200 fps cordite load which was never produced.
The 1600 yd sight was for the bp 1850 fps ctg and the 1800 yd sight was for the 2000 fps MkI-VI cordite ctg.

As an aside, a Lee Metford MkI* just showed up at Gunco in Ottawa, full wood and complete, including the hard to find mag and the bolt head shroud intact. Has the correct band and bayo lug combo with sling and stacking swivels.

The downside:

The gun was subject to an old-school dewat long ago. Part of the bolt face itself is ground down and the muzzle was at one time pinned from the bottom, then the muzzle was later counter-bored to remove the pin.

It could be fireable again with a new bolt head. At least the bolt head shroud is still there and unscathed.

Ether way, still a very very very rare gun. I'd say it's cosmetically nicer than the OP's gun. I think Gunco has it listed for $1500. A hell of a hole-filler for someone.

I started looking for a bolt shroud for my Metford about 2 years ago. Thats one of the reasons i signed up to gun nutz..... all over the internet i search, i called parts stores and gun smiths all across canada and guess what? My friggin neighbor had one, he got it for 30$ at a car wash 20 years ago. He was more than happy to let me take it off his hands for a couple hundred bucks.
