Well I started to load some 200gr VS the normaly 180 I use.

1 out of 6-7 get crushed a bit. Look like it's crimped before the seating is finish.

It's probably too crimped I guess as I try to crimp more than not enought (had some real problem with my 1st batch with no enought crimped round and jammed gun in a IPSC match)

I don't really look to buy a Lee Factory crimp as it would need another press or setup/resetup this one.

I currently try 1.145" as the guy who sold me my Para told me to load it that long for it. I was loading 1.135" for my CZ before. 1.145 sill fit the CZ Mag/chamber.

Any advice?

Your going to have to reset your bullet seater/ roll crimp die.

I don't think you have a choice, the Lee Pro 1000 only has 3 holes in the turret, not enough to add the FCD.

I have the 4 hole Classic Cast Turret press, so I don't crimp when seating bullets, the next station (FCD) does that.

It does sound like your seating die is adjusted just a hair too deep. You are probably getting the odd case that is NOT the same length thats why you only get the crushed case when you get that one thats a few thousands longer?

I would scrimp, save, beg, borrow and steal(just kidding) enough funds to put together a better progressive set-up.

It only took me 2 hours today to load 400 rounds on my Hornady LnL....and that was after fiddling with it for awhile to get it rolling along good.

When everything is working 100% I can do 300 easily in 1 hour.

I use the Lee FCD in final stage. I really like the Lee FCD and haven't found anything better yet to use to crimp pistol.

It's a progressive press, 3 dies set, the last is a Taper/Roll crimp die with seating plug.

My take is either the seating is too deep, or I crimp too much...

I crimp so I can see a bit of taper on the edge of the mouth of the brass. It's a little bit shiny, not sure if it's too much or just okay.

Also, When you adjust the resizing die, do you adjust it without brass in or with the brass in? When it's in the resizing, the last 1/4" isn't resized (color isn't the same).

If I remove the brass, the Die almost touch the shellplate

I tryed backing out the seating plug, I got 1.153 instead of 1.145

I tryed backing the Died and reajusting the plug, got 1.145, no beeling BUT

The mouth is .421 instead of .419 as before and as the middle of the brass (under the bullet).

What is good?

I tryed cycling in a mag in the Para, it looked fine, looked a bit weird in the CZ, might be the longer AOL, dunno.

From what you have said I would unscrew the powder through expanding die, then unscrew the bullet seating die and put the handle all the way down and screw in the decapping die till it touches the shell plate, firmly. Then set the expanding die to your likes and lastly set the bullet seating die, with just enough crimp to remove the belling.

The reason for all this is something I read somewhere about the expanding die flaring all kinds of different flares because the decapping die wasn’t touching the shell plate, this caused all kinds of different bullet seating because, sometime it would go in further than other times, all from different pressures pushing the handle down. Without having the decapping die stop on the shell plate.
Hope this helps.

Well I thing I have it figured out.

My Resizing die wasn't far enought, so I adjusted for touching the shell carrier + 1/2 turn: Now when it resize, it goes to the bottom.

I have removed a bit of crimp and can now move the seater plug for 1.145 without any belling. I have .420-421 crimp and if I smash a loaded round bullet first, it doesn't move.

I still have not tryed my Para yet, had no time this week to load some round or go shooting, but I'm loading 150 rounds tonight and I will go to a IPSC match tomorow.

Hope the gun is reliable!

Just done 200 rounds with no problem in about 2 hours (took my time).

I really need to buy the Lee Bullet feeder and Case Collator, would save a ton of time
