lee 1000, looking to buy

I don't use this press to prime my cases. I hand prime. I first use the press and pretty high speed (with the case feeding tubes and colater) to churn out resized-primer pulled cases. Then I hand prime them all. Then I remove the resizing die and install the other two dies and make rounds.

I don't trust the primer deally in the back of the press. Too sketchy.

That's a good idea as most of the problems I have heard about with this press involve primer issues.

That is true. Often primers will feed but not completely and you'll have them sideways in the casing primer pocket or skewed or sometimes no primer at all.

You have to watch your primer feeder, the round tray and the trough (ramp?) that guides the primers down from the tray.

Every time you cycle the handle, one primer drops from the tray. Notice the tray vibrates somewhat, and this movement allows the primers to drop into the trough.

When dust or grime accumulates in the tray, trough or the lower primer feed mechanism, the primers get stuck causing the misfeed. Keep everything clean and watch the primers as you cycle the handle. If you see the primers not dropping freely, stop and tap the tray lightly.

Took me a while to figure this out, but saved a lot of primers.

What are these going for in Canada? Does Cabelas ship these from the states? They have them on for $159...crazy cheap!!

About $240 at Wholesale Sports, so probably similar at other Canadian sources, e.g. read the whole thread and you'll see one of our member's state that he sells them for about that and provides a link to his website. Cheap enough not to bother buying from Cabela's in the U.S? With currency exchange and shipping and maybe duty at the border and the potential hassles with actual U.S. export and Canadian import regulations and the potential hassles of border officials of both sides misunderstanding a regulation...

Thanks guys, found that after I posted. Wholesale also has them for 239 and that's just a short drive away. I just can't believe that it has everything included to get going.
