Lee 500 gr 3R bullet mould

That seems to be the solution - cooling time for the blocks. Alternating a pair of them makes sense. At $24.95 a set, it's not a heavy cost.
 
I got a bunch loaded up, about 25 over 38 grains of 3031 and another 25 over about 60 grains of goex fffg, I was hoping to get a bit more fffg in the case but that's about all I could cram in. Hoping for the best! Those are some big lube grooves, so hopefully the fouling won't be too bad. But then again, cleaning the black out is half the fun!
 
Got out and shot the Sharps today, I shot some moderate 405 grain, as well as the two 500 - grain loads I made up. It was very windy and snowy so I only got to shoot about 130 yards, couldn't see much farther. Hitting the 12 inch plate was very easy and man do those 500 grain bullets pack a wallop. They shoot through 16" of timber and keep on trucking! As for accuracy they were excellent, the large lube grooves seem to pack enough lube to keep the fouling to a minimum. Didn't even have to swab the bore. Needless to say I'm very happy with them and can't wait to shoot them at a farther distance, they seem to beg for a 4 second flight time....
 
Thanks for the feed back Skokie! I have a new Shiloh #1 Sporter waiting to be shipped. I'll be buying a pair of the Lee moulds to alternate during a casting session. Keep us posted on using the Lee bullet at the longest range you can shoot them.
