LEE 9mm reloaders; I need a small favour…

I have a Lee 9mm dies that come with a 0.5 CC powder dipper. My scale is not quite here yet so I need some help;

I have some HS-6 powder that I currently use for .44mag and thats what I’m going to use for 9mm. Now I think 0.5 CC of HS-6 is around 7gr. Which is the MAX load for 115gr bullet. Can anyone who has the LEE dies/ 0.5cc powder dipper measure it on scale how much exactly it would be (hopefully under 7gr)?

Thanks a lot to anyone who helps out :)

I'd like to help, but I don't have any HS-6; also, powder density changes from lot to lot, so my results would be different from yours.

:? How can that be true? I thought if it’s the same powder they have same grains and therefore the same density. Am I wrong?

For the $13, you should buy the full set of dippers - it gives you the slide rule thing.
My Hornady manual says 6.4 gr is max for 115 gr jacketed.

The Lee slide rule says for HS6
.3 4.2
.5 7.0
.7 9.8

There is a gun show in Stratford tomorrow - grab a $25 scale there.

Density equals volume (the dippers work by volume), but grains are a measure of weight; each lot of powder will vary slightly from lot to lot, but the factory makes sure that the burning rate of each powder is within a certain tolerance.

there are so many variations possible with those stupid dippers it's not even funny. If you pour the powder into them you get one reading, if you dip at angle, another. If you go straight in and then twist it, another. And not small variations either, large ones, that can easily throw a weight over the safe limit. get a scale and then toss those dippers out.

Using HS-6 and 0.5 CC dipper, I did about 10 dips using different techniques. Various weights, between 6.6 and 6.9 grains.
I found the most 'consistent' is to scoop through and out. Those weighed about 6.8 on average. Do not tap! When I started tapping, I got several over 7.1 grains.
