Well, as I said above, I seem to have the hang of it now. It has to have quite a few primers in it, held at a particular angle and the lever completely compressed and fully released.
it was the hand press thing that was confusing me- i've never had a problem with the autoprime and never oiled/greased/whatever- if anything i use mine for seating primers that the press hasn't done a good enough job on-ie seated too shallow- those problems poc was siteing are all too familiar to those of us with the lee 1000 and the autoprime 2 has a similar if not the same feed- i just use mine with the tray in the up position so gravity feeds the primers- never occured to me that it was possible to do something else-
