I was ordering a few items from Titan so I picked up the new Bench Primer ( $29.00US ) .. I have to admit that my days of using my Lee ergo prime are numbered and I am having some problems getting my new to me RCBS APS bench primer from binding the primer piston .. may be the fact I am using lee shell holders .. but the lee bench primer has been just great in its initial test runs .. Will I abandon the RCBS APS bench system? .. not yet .. it is so simple in its construction, it just has to be the shell holders , so I have some RCBS holders on order .. the forster primer I have been using when my hand is not great is OK, but a bit of a pain to load the tube(s) and make adjustments when changing calibers .. ( may modify a new lee primer holder just for that just for kicks ) ..
... but to the point of the post ( report ) .. the lee unit impressed me in its smooth operation and low cost .. the new primer trays are such an improvement ..
So yes, I am quite over weighted on hand and bench primers , but it is a hobby .. and I love to tinker ..
Lee Ergo prime 9/10 old primer tray was a pain ( fixed with lee's new trays, should be 10/10 based on the bench primer )
RCBS APS hand primer 10/10
Forster bench primer 9/10 lost one point for fuss, and thin handle
RCBS APS bench primer EDIT: 10/10 RCBS shell holders made the difference .. perfect but Lee has it beat for price not quality
Forster coax press primer 0/0 ( I am a plinker loader .. not even tried )
Lee Bench Primer 10/10
The above opnion are my own .. any reference to RCBS APS does not count loading the strips .. that is to easy, can be done well in advance, so is not a factor .. bench primers are used from a sitting position .. performance may vary from a standing position ( forster thin handle may be less of a problem )
