Hi guys, im new to reloading and looking for an entry level reloading i have a small budget, just bought a rifle in .308, and wife would have my balls if i dropped 300-400$ on more toys, im just looking to reload around 100 rounds per month...limited time and space as well.
i've seen positive reviews on youtube but these guys looked experienced. my question is is this device rookie freindly or should i just wait a few months and get the table top version.

Nothing wrong with it other than the fact it's slow, but if you're only aiming to reload 100 rounds a month it'll be fine. I use one to do my resizing/depriming (in front of the tv) and to make test loads before I churn out bigger quantities on the turret press.

Cabela's had it the cheapest for the kit when I was hunting for one.

I used one for decades for rifle reloading. Works just fine for low volume. Went from that to a 1000 Pro when I started shooting a lot of pistols, and still use the hand press for rifle round reloading. Definitely better than the Lee Loader kit that I started with!

i think the lee anniversary kit may be a better deal, as it includes the bits and bobs you need as well (not all the best quality, but good for low volume). also the lever on the bench mounted presses is easier on your hands and arms. scale, trimming stuff, etc. is all in the kit. less convenient in that you need to mount it somewhere, though.

X2. The hand press is fine but in the long run you cannot beat the Lee Anniversary Kit for reloading. I've used mine for over 5 years now and never had an issue (5000 + rounds). 223, 243, 6.5x55, 30-30, 308, 30-06, 300WSM, and 375 Ruger have been reloaded on my Lee press using Lee, Redding, RCBS and Hornady dies. A lot less effort required as well for sizing cases. Spend the extra $. Reload 100 - 150 30-06 rounds (depending on components used) and it has paid for itself. You mention limited space. A press like this can be clamped on a "workmate" type bench then just put away.

X3 But if you do decide to get the hand press and upgrade later you can still use the hand press for decapping and resizing. I do hundreds of round while watching a movie and my wife tolerates the "ting and plink" every couple of seconds.

love mine as well, i can do 100 9mm in about 30-40 minutes. i use a lee autoprime to prime though, the one that ships with the hand press works, but is slower. however i do like it as it really smashed the primers in!

well worth the money, as said i resize/flare in front of the tv.

I have the pre breechlock hand press and although I started on a bench mounted press and mostly (prefer) use that still the hand press is handy. I think you would still be better served by a bench mounted press so you don't need three hands during the times you may need to hold a case upright (full of powder) while reaching for another bullet to seat etc. I borrowed this idea from a poster on cast boolits forum to take a press to use at the range. I use a wood clamp to stick it to the table or bench and away I go; (photo of the original makers press and box NOT MINE) http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f208/dk17hmr/box4-1.jpg The Lee Anniversary Press Kit would fit on this fine.
