Hi all, I am looking to get a Lee Safety primer for my Lee Breech Lock Challenger Press but i believe the ram has to be upgraded to the newer type with the primer holder on the ram. Anyone experience this or have any ideas..?

I have the safety primer and yes, the ram does have to have a groove and pin to support the small and large primer arms.

On the plus side, the Lee 50th anniversary kit is on sale for $109 at wholesale sports and it includes the safety primer (x2, small and large), a press which supports it, small and large primer pocket cleaner, resizer, chamfer tool, towder thrower, and safety scale.

It's a deal.
 
The Original Lee Challenger and the current Breech Lock Challenger are different presses with similar names. I don't think you can change the ram to take the newer priming system, nor is there a place to mount the safety prime.

You can pick the new press alone up for about $45 in the US.
