Lee breech lock press 50th kit to load for Garand?

Taking previous advice from others on here I'm looking at the Lee breech lock press 50th kit and wondering if it is ok for reloading for my M1 Garand. Their site says not recommended for semis. From other posts I have read on reloading for the Garand I'm wondering if its to do with full length re-sizing? I'm really really new to all this and will openly admit to being clueless...

I'd like to know if this kit would be ok to get me into trying reloading. I don't want to blow a wad on a kit and I understand that some components of a kit may be less satisfactory than my requirements but at $125 why not? As long as it allows me to try reloading out and to load for that rifle in particular.

Any input?

I'd say go for it... I started with the 50th kit and expanded from there but several pieces of it (press, scale, powder thrower) are firmly attached to my bench...

Your going to need a few extras but starting with the Kit and a set of full length resizing dies is a very good start.
 
Since Ben isn't here these days, I'll say it's a good kit to start with too.
I got one at Christmas and have done a few hundred rounds so far.
I think you would want to full-length resize because it's a semi-automatic.
The kit comes up for sale @ $99 every now and then.

Digital calipre to measure case and ammo length
Lee or Lyman Manual

150-168gr .308 bullets
IMR 4895 or IMR 4064 powder

I use as above. I added a little better Lyman powder scale and a RCBS powder trickler. This year I added a case tumbler.

I'd recommend getting both a lee and a lyman manual, the lee manual because your equipment is lee and the lyman because their loads/cartridge descriptions are much easier to read and explain things a bit more, it makes the process more convenient thats all.

I have the exact same kit and I also got a frankford arsenal tumbler kit, for $79 it has paid for itself already.
 
i have the breech lock challenger kit, and love it. the powder measure throws pretty consistent charges (using WSF for the most part) although i did get a digital powder scale instead of the beam that comes with it, and haven't had a single issue with any ammo i've loaded (.303 britich adn 9mm luger)
