Lee Classic Cast - Opinions Needed!

The Classic cast is a decent press and good price. I think it's better than a RCBS partner press, but has less leverage and not as sturdy as a RCBS Rockchucker. OTOH, the Rochchucker costs about twice as much, and if you don't do any brass reforming you won't miss it.

Interesting ... I find the Breach lock single stage or Classic Cast has more leverage than the RCBS RockChucker. I gave 500 pulled 7.62x39 steel core projectiles to my buddy to resize and shoot in his 300 blk. After seeing me do it on my Classic Cast he brought them back to use my press as he stated it was twice as hard on the Rockchucker

Only someone who had trouble with "grade 5 science" would be stupid enough to use an example like this. What you implied was that the linkage would not take the strain of a longer handle which is absurd.

Have you loaded 50 BMG on the CC, or reformed cases to convert cartidges? Have you any basis to say that increasing the length of the lever by 6 inches would be acceptable to Lee Precision or have you asked them? Maybe more doing and less talking would work better for you.

I do not know that the linkage would take the strain of a longer handle it wasn't designed for and you haven't shown any different.

Simple levers and force multiplying are grade 5 science. What's wrong with that?

And let's remember that you started the mouthy BS calling "stupid". That might be impressive to you but it just makes you look silly to everyone else.

Maybe he meant twice as convenient. The CC is handier to use for regular reloading jobs because of the shorter handle.

Arrogance is what you are about. Just because someone does not share your opinion you accuse them of going off, along with insulting the OP with that ignorant remark of "grade 5 science". This is where this started. You have a habit of quoting me ,I never quoted you. What you post isn't worth it. You can't get over the fact that your opinion is not share by everyone concerning the RC press and Lee CC. By the way I've reformed many cases on my CC and did size some 50 BMG.

Okay gents, I'll do more research on single stage presses.
As for now, I think it would be best to let this thread die.
I truly appreciate all the feedback, useful insight and help!
All looking good regarding the Lee Classic Cast but there may just be something else out there to catch my eye!
So far, I'm 98% sold on the Classic Cast.
Many forums state that it's cast steel despite the Lee website stating cast iron.
More research to do and maybe review my grade 5 science books, LMFAO!

The linkage is all steel, some presses use cast arms on them, might be where the confusion comes from.
The one I have is definitely cast iron. Cheaper ones are cast aluminum.

LOL, I should have just said making the lever longer was a bad/stupid idea because it was. I was trying to be humourous but it went over your head maybe. My mistake.

My opinions were shared honestly but maybe I am not as sensitive to someone else's emotional needs and delicate feelings as I should be. Sorry.

You really don't ever stop do you!!

You don't know how to be humourous you are just not intelligent enough to do so. Arrogance and ignorance are what you are good at.

Jethunter, humour, even dark/sarcastic humour does not escape me.
However, I did laugh the entire thing off in my previous post.
Am I sensitive? Not in the least.
Now either we all put this behind us and get on track or I'll request a thread lock.
To elaborate, jethunter is lacking tact.
He didn't come off as ignorant or arrogant to me.

Physics wise:
The Ergo Roller made for the Lee Classic Cast does appear to be longer (obviously in depth as well but we'll ignore that for the time being since what we should actually be looking at is the length between handle and where the handle is bolted to the press in order to properly calculate the mechanical advantage) as well as being made from solid bar stock.
Hence my previous question if it will provide the same leverage as what is found on the RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme.
I ask questions since I have absolutely no one in my surroundings that reloads, let alone shoots.
So as it is now, let's all forget my previous question.

Getting back on track, any other large and currently manufactured presses that I may have missed in the $150 to $300 range?

There is the Lyman crusher. I don't know a lot about this one but it would be in the price range mentioned. Lyman makes good products. As Hitzy posted the ultra mag is impressive but out of the $300 range. I've never used one but seen some impressive videos.

Ideally between $200-300.

Do you need a new unit. You could probably find a real good 2nd hand in the classifieds or on line somewhere. Even on an American site you could look because it can shipped to Canada. Shipping could be up there, but if the price is right then maybe.

I honestly prefer new equipment unless I can inspect it in person.
I've been screwed heavily a few times with used items that I had no recourse with.
Lyman wise, I was advised against them since when they do discontinue items, they do not keep spare parts on hand.

I did not know this of Lyman. Good info. TKS Hornady also makes 2 presses, the lock & load and the iron press. Londero has both you could check them out. I've never used either but see no reason why they would be bad.

PS What type of press do you have experience with or are you using now.

Purchased the RCBS Partner kit that Cabelas had on sale a while back.
Knew this would lead me down the rabbit hole!
I have not reloaded on the Partner instead, I use it for all the dirty work such as decapping using the Lee universal decapper and trimming using the Lee Quick Trim Deluxe.
Hornady LNL AP for pistol ammo since I don't feel comfortable in the additional wear and tear when it comes to resizing .308 win.
I'm not knocking the LNL AP one bit, just wanted a strong single stage for resizing and even fully reloading and perhaps 50BMG in the future.
