Lee Classic Cast Single-Stage Press Handle/Clamp/Other Issues?

No worries, you didn't irritate me at all (been married a few times, takes a lot to bother me much now). I was truly interested in the logic behind the turnaround.

I don't agree with you that the Rock Chucker kit is a better value for a beginner (even though I do agree the Lee scale is poor), but respect your opinion.

More and more I think a lot of people would benefit from skipping the expense of a single stage they will soon outgrow. But people's needs vary so much there is no one press that is right for everyone. I have a Classic Turret, a Pro1000, and a Loadmaster. And all have their place.

Have had the classic cast for years
At same time bought a Dillon 550b with optional roller handle

The stock Dillon handle fit perfect on the classic cast and offered a big upgrade
You likely know somebody with the same Dillon handle collecting dust

I have a classic cast as my primary rifle reloading press. To fix the "primer out the side" problem I just put a little roll of masking tape in the side- no more primers out the side. I can't imagine putting enough force on the press to even begin to worry about the linkage or structure- but I guess some people are a lot stronger than I am... Great press that does the job- but if someone dropped a co-ax off on my doorstep I wouldn't complain either...

You're right there I have a Forster for rifle essentially and it fills the bill..a Dillon for everything else

I don't think you could damage the handle through normal reloading use.

That said, I bent mine, using the press to swage 44 magnum bullets out of 40 s&w brass.

I now have a longer, solid metal handle.
I also swage .430" bullets from 40 S&W brass. I do it on two Rock Chuckers. I bought a Lee Classic Cast because that's what BT Sniper on Cast Boolits uses with his dies. He also has instructions on moving the fulcrum point to increase the mechanical advantage on these presses. I haven't done that to mine and I don't know that I will, because the RC's work so well!
