I have run into a small issue with my 6.5x55 cases. When i resize RP cases they aren't thick enough to size properly and don't touch the expander ball on the way out of the die. No problem with Norma brass, or FC. RP brass is .010-.011 thick at the neck, Norma is .012-.014, FC is .013-.014,have a small amount of win brass that is to thin as well. Die is an old but never used Pacific set. So i am wondering if a Lee collet die will do the job or do i have to go the bushing die route to get enough neck tension with the RP cases. As it is now bullets just slide in to the RP cases by hand, Norma have good neck tension but my supply is limited, have 100 RP cases i would like to use.

Go with the Lee collet die. It compresses on to a mandrel which gives a centered 0.002" under bullet size for consistent tension no matter what the thickness of the neck brass. If you want to use bushing dies then you have to turn the necks to a standard neck thickness first.

You can also get smaller sized mandrels for the Lee collet die. Fire me a PM, I have one I don't use with both the standard and reduced mandrels, we can work something out if you want it.

The Lee dies are certainly cheaper, a complete set is cheaper than a single Forster sizing die. I thought the idea of the bushing was to use the correct size for the brass you are sizing, not to turn the necks of different brass to the same size. I have all winter to decide which way i go, no draw tags this year and i have a good supply of Norma brass to shoot with. Wanted to keep the RP for hunting ammo as i have lots of it and cases tend to go missing when out in the field having fun.
