I have been using the Lee 3 die sets with my Por 1000 for loading 9mm for a few years now. I find the loads work, but are not the most accurate; I have not been super concerned as I do not shoot this load past 15 meters.

I was planning on picking up a factory crimp die for the 9mm for working with match type loads; I planned to back out the seating/crimp die to seat the bullets and then crimp the load on a separate press for match loads (plinking ammo will be done the same as usual).

I just picked up a 45 ACP and I was thinking of buying the deluxe 4 die set with the factory crimp die already in it, but I was wondering if I could do what I have been doing for plinking loads. Is the seating die in the deluxe set the same as the 3 die set; can I seat AND crimp if I decided to?

The seating die is the same in both sets. You can buy the deluxe set with Factory Crimp die, or buy this die seperately.

They also offer a taper crimp die for 9mm, .45ACP and other cartridges that require it. It may be the better choice for seperate crimping. The Factory Crimp Die does this too, but also has the post sizing ring at the bottom that sizes the whole case. You may not need this feature.

I believe the seating die, FCD, and taper crimp die's crimp feature is taper crimp as appropriate for these rounds, and roll crimp for other types of rounds.
