I have been looking at the Lee die sets and wondering which one might serve me best. From what I have read, neck sizing will help create tight groups with a fireformed brass. I have also read that a crimping die allows pressure to build up to a more even pressure curve before the bullet moves, thus making it more accurate.

I have a set of full length RCBS dies for my hunting set-up but was wondering what people would recommend to try and tighten up some target loads. Crimp or neck?

For more serious accuracy i would suggest a Redding Comp. die set with bushing neck sizer die, and the comp.(in-line) seater. If cost is a concern, go with the Forster set, which includes neck sizer and in-line seater. Not alot of return worrying yourself over neck sizing and runout if the bullet is not seated consistently square.IMHO...Ben

I am getting neck sizers for all my rifle brass and it speeds up reloading , plus makes the brass last longer.

But then again, the Lee neck sizing dies can still make some pretty good ammo.

See the article by Mysticplayer and what he accomplished using Lee dies, and a mid range Lee press. (Mystic Precision, site sponsor at top)

I have dies from many manufacturers. One thing I do with Lee FL sizing dies is to polish the inside with Flitz on a bore mop. Much smoother operation after that.

Aside from the nice distraction....

Um, it all depends on the caliber and what you intend to do with the ammo. If you already have an RCBS set, just get the Lee Crimp Die. Now if you want super accurate ammo, you're better off with a Competition set like mentioned.

Minor adjustments to your load or lube (if cast bullets) and depth might tighten your groups enough before dishing out money for new dies.

The Lee collet die produces very consistent results with no neck runout. I have never had a problem with bullets seating crooked. I don't crimp and have never had issues with COAL changing due to recoil or with consistency. The last group I shot chronied 2999/2996/2988/2999 using F210 match primers.
