I bought a enfield action wrench and a barrel vice for $165us on ebay. Seller was wallycooper. Very solidly built. The action wrench fits large ring Mauser, but has an adapter to use with enfield #1's and #4's.

What I did was make a adapter on the lath to go over the raised surface that the front action screw goes through. Now you have a flat surface to use a regular action wrench for a flat bottom action as in a mauser flat bottom wrench. A stack of wide washers that were the correct bore diameter to surround this front raised stub and protect it would probably be fine A flat plate the correct thickness with the right size hole drilled in it. Use your imagination.
Made mine out of a lathe dog and tubing. Make the individual action inserts out of aluminum. Not hard with the right gear. It is heavy duty. Only one failure, a No1mk3 never moved.
Be well
