I have a Lee enfield marked G.R.I. ISHAPORE 1923 SHILE III. I know its Indian and it needs a bolt and magazine.

its appears to have been sportorized in regards to the furniture, lower looks like the jungle carbine with no upper furniture.

Now, can I fit a bolt and magazine from a No.1 Mk III? Not sure if I should replace all the furniture or just leave it as is.

Thnx for the advise guys.

You will need to ensure the bolt locking lugs bear evening. And fitting the bolt head to ensure proper headspace will be hit or miss and might require having numerous examples tried to find one that fits correctly. The magazine might work perfectly, or might require minor tweaking of the feed lips to feed correctly.

Barrel length is the big thing. If the barrel is cut than a restoration becomes very expensive. Your bolt and mag from any other No1 Mk 3 should fit although you will be cautioned at length from others about the headspace issue. Probably worth checking in this case. I don't know that an Ishapore is even worth restoring unless it has some sentimental value.

Any bolt from a #1 mk111 should fit. There are probably millions of Lee Enfields out there with miss matched bolts. The rifle WILL NOT EXPLODE if the bolt does not match.

Barrel has not been cut, so could fully refurb. May not and just leave as is with replacement bolt and mag. Could buy a replacement for the cost to refurb.
