Hello all, I've been looking for an old Lee Enfield to do a rebuild on, and today I came across one, the front bayonet lug is still there, barrel hasn't been cut, but stock has be sportized..The front hood on the front sight is gone, but no damage to the sight base.
The problem is...I don't know what I have ...I know it a 1942 and it should be a number 4, but I'm having problems with the serial number, and thought maybe I could get a little help.:)
The pic...could be clearer..but all I have is my phone. The receiver, bolt, metal band, around the wrist match...mag doesn't
I think?? it's a good one to de-sportize, to get back to the way it should be, and I want to get the right wood for it.
It doesn't have Property Of USA on it..
Thanks for looking.
Cheers
Brian

It is definitely a Savage. The C in the serial number stands for Chicopee Falls, MA where the Savage factory was located. The serial number indicates it was made in late 1942 as it says on the receiver. In later production, Savage dropped marking the year.

Thanks you very much guys, so that would mean the upper hand grip has the cut lines on it...right?? :) There's some on the EE right know, if so.
