Canadian .22 trainer.
According to Skennerton its a .22 Mark IV (a 1917 Mk III* converted by Parker-Hale to fire .22 RF) with an H. W. Cooey No. 10A rear sight (patented in 1925, adapted from the Canadian Ross Rifle).
Dated "1943" on receiver, barrel and in barrel channel of forend wood, top and bottom.
