This is my almost completed Lee Enfield No IV MkI - not in 303 British as you might expect. It's now in 444 Marlin. I just have a little magazine work to finish. I need to make it single stack since the staggered magazine won't accommodate the 444.
It shoots well, with no issues and the brass shows no signs of stress.

Awesome! Love the .444 Marlin but mine is “only” a Marlin. Got some close up photo? It looks great!

What a beauty! Thanks for posting.

Give us some details - barrel came from??

I bought this gun as a project that someone else had started and gave up, I guess. The barrel was already on it, so not sure where it came from. It did need the chamber reamed out more because the cartridge wouldn't chamber unless I seated the bullet deep in the case, and I didn't really want that. At first I thought I could replace the bolt head, because Enfields have interchangeable heads, mine was already a "0" so there wasn't a smaller one.
The bolt and extractor were re-worked, the extractor leaf spring was replaced with a coil spring.
The stock was rough, unfinished and poorly inletted and poorly fitted. It was a bit of a project to get it fitting properly and I thought I'd add a schnabel foreend too.
Finally, finished it up with Birchwood Casey's Tru Oil.
