What is the real thread angle.......55 deg or 60 deg!!

I have started to thread and found that a 60 deg cutter is too steep...

Does any one know the proper sizing!!!or am I on drugs!!:runaway:

Thread angle

The British used a Whitworth thread that has a 55 degree angle and radiused top and valley - unlike 60 degree UN threads . That is probably what you are seeing.

Enfield Barrel Threads

In Bolt Action rifles by Frank de Haas 3 RD Edition, has pictures and measurements of barrel threads on a number of common rifles. He shows the Lee-Enfield as having 14 V, T.P.I. and the measurements from the top of the threads as .997" and the bottom as .900". The length of the barrel threads as .687".

I hope this helps, I don't know what T.P.I. stands for, but you gentlemen probably do.
