Could somebody knowledgeable please tell me if the butt stocks for the Lee Enfield No.1 MkIII and the No.4 are interchangeable?

I know that the No.1 MkIII butt stock came in three different lengths, but other than that it looks extremely similar to the No.4 - at least in pictures. The reason I ask is that there seems to be plenty of NOS No4 butt stocks out there for sale that I'd like to be able to potentially use to de-sport my No.1 MkIII. Any useful advise would be greatly appreciated!

By the way, I just won an NOS walnut forearm on eBay so I'm pretty excited about that, even though I paid a king's ransom for it!

Thanks, it's good to know that they can be interchangeable. Now does anyone know what the main differences are between them? If it doesn't look correct once it's installed, I'd rather just try and be more patient and wait for a decent walnut No.1 MkIII butt stock to come along -- even if that could take a while.

Anything can be made fit however a No4 is quite different than a No1. Sell your no4 part and get the correct one. You should be able to pick one up on EE for $40 or so. Ron

The difference is in the socket end. It is kind of hard to explain with out pitcures, but the No1 stock has some wood removed to allow for the safety, whereas the No4 doesn't.
