Lee Enfield conversion

Many years ago I was in Air Cadets and we used Lee Enfield conversions for target practice. Do these ever pop up for sale or is there somewhere I could look to find one?

That'll be the C No7 .22 rifle. They are out there but not easy to find. If you find them, expect to pay $1500 and up for a decent example.

You could fine a No1 rifle (smle) for quite a bit less money, chambered in 22 rimfire, same use as the no7 but 30 years eariler

That one's called the No2 MkIV, it's a great addition to any Lee Enfield collection

Yeah, sadly mine isnt a no2mkIV, its a rebarreled no1 with a bsa commercial 22 barrel on it. Would have been done for a high school or something out side of the military. They seems to be cheaper then no2 rifles and basically the same thing.

Had a good friend sell me this No 2 Mk IV* years ago, I'm a terrible shot with it but its a blast at the range.

Chasseur's 22 trainer has had a few parts switched out but appears to be a pre WWI Sht.22 Mk.II. They were a conversion of a Lee Metford or Enfield long Lee service rifle, modified to mimic the handling and shooting characteristics of the SMLE.

Single shot, they are a lot of fun to shoot.

I happened to get a Lee Enfield C No. 7 Long Branch .22 in the transport case about 40 years ago after using one a few times in the military indoor ranges. Shot it a few times over the years and have come to find out that its fairly hard to find now as the cadet/military ones have been deactivated or destroyed. I only paid 60 or 70 dollars for it if I remember correctly. More accurate than I am and a nice piece of history.
