lee enfield date

Is there a way to date an enfield by the serial #.
Is the a way for me to find out what model enfield i have,sorry new to enfields.

Should have a year of manufacture on it, where depends on the model

could be a B.S.A. Co. comercial with no date on the reciever.


but is will be a date somewhere, barrel is usually dated.

take pictures of the reciever markigns and left side of the barrel shank

No need to use the serial # to date it. The receiver is a 1917 Birmingham Small Arms Company SMLE III*. Looks like the barrel was replaced in 1937.

That's some nasty pitting on the wrist. Looks like it may have been blued over when the barrel was replaced.
