Hi all,
I just recently purchased a nice full stock, matching number, Ishapore 2A1 Lee Enfield and unfortunately it doesn't come with its cleaning kit. Does anyone know what type of cleaning kit goes with it and where I could possibly find one for sale.
Thanks

Likely just a pull-through, bit of wire screen, filled oil bottle and a couple of 4x2s; that's all that was issued with the SMLE.

If you want a cheap, easily-transportable cleaning kit, pick up one of the Parker-Hale kits that were issued for the FAL.

Nice little plastic box fits into the knee pocket on your BDUs, built-in oil bottle. Inside is a NYLON pull-through (doesn't take jungle rot) with a brass weight, brass Jag and brass Loop, room for a small supply of 4x2s. And it includes an actual BORE BRUSH, something we never saw when we had the Number 4! PROGRESS!!!!

Works dandy, all you need if you know how to use it, and only costs about 10 bucks. See Trade-Ex.

Hope this helps.

Thanks I figured they might have just used a FN FAL cleaning kit as the rifle was built to be a stop gap measure (uses the FN FAL butt plate for example). It would make sense logistically for that to be the cleaning kit. Thanks for the help

"...might have just used..." Mid 60's production. Issued to Indian cops and CO's. No FN cleaning kits available then. Be another ten plus years before Trudeau gave India the remains of the Canadian Arsenals Long Branch plant.
Suspect the 2A used the same cleaning kit(if it ever got cleaned) as the No. 1 rifles India had.

Very interesting. The rest of the world still thinks that Indian Ordnance commenced production of their own version of the FN FAL by reverse engineering British and FN FALs in 1963.
FN was very annoyed that India was producing FALs without license or royalty.
