Hi there sorry I'm new here not sure if this is correct.
I know someone trying to sell a lee Enfield #5 jungle carbine and its all nickel plated.
I'm just wondering why its nickel plated and where it might be from and what it's worth Value wise?
How rare is this rifle?
Any help would be great.
Thanks Steve

The LE No.5 is a fairly common rifle in Canada. It is an excellent hunting rifle in its original form.

Nickel plating may have been done if the rifles blueing had been badly damaged. The plating will remove the collector value from the rifle. Collector value is enhanced by the rifle being as original as possible, having matching serial numbers on its parts (receiver, bolt, magazine). Even refinishing the stock will reduce it's collector value.

IMHO its modified value depends on its overall condition but it'll be between $150 - $250. Basically a .303 Brit shooter.

"...why its nickel plated..." Might have been in rough condition. Pitted, etc. Drops the value in half, compared to one that has the original finish.
Gibb's, Stateside, did it too. Mind you, they were using No. 4 Rifle actions to build fakes.
