Hi Folks,

I've got a mag from a No4 Mk1 that was spray-painted glossy black. I stripped off the paint, park'ed the mag, and now I'm looking to put on a more respectable black finish. Any suggestions on something I can do myself?

Thanks.

Parkerizing is a perfectly acceptable finish on it's own. I've got three mint Long Branch mags that are all factory parked.

However, you can always add a coat of matte black GunKote over top of the parkerizing. Parkerizing is actually the base coat they recommend for the best adhesion of their product (that is after you thoroughly clean and degrease all parts first.)

Cheers!

Spray paint it! For a foolproof, tough finish: Brake-clean, then Heat the mag body with a torch or heat gun. When it's very hot to the touch, lay on a coat of tremclad flat black. Then put it in the oven at 250 degrees for an hour, turn off the oven and let the mag and oven cool off together.

It really works, and works well.
