I have a lee enfield mag that needs to be pinned . What is the easiest way to do it. From what I see you could use a rivet to stop it going past five rounds.

I am assuming your talking about a 10 round Lee Enfield Mag?

FOR BOLT ACTION RIFLES THERE IS NO NEED TO PIN TO 5.

Only magazines used in semi-automatic rifles need to be pinned to 5 (a few exceptions aside).

No pin! No pin! If your feeling like 5 more rounds is too heavy to carry, just go to a local gun show and buy a 5 rounder!

Sometimes at gun shows you can find the 5 shot L-E magazines made for Parher-Hale / BSA sporters and even for Lee-Speed. They usually sell for ridiculous prices because no-one sees the use for these.

A centre fire rifle mag that holds more than 5 rounds is prohibited all by itself. However, Lee-Enfield mags are specifically exempt, by name, from the mag capacity law. So are M1 Rifle clips.

I was always told it was Semi-Automatic Centerfire Rifles and Shotguns.

Otherwise there would be alot of illegal shotguns and such.

From my understanding the enfield was exempt because there were some semi auto conversion attempts at the end of WW2 or something.

"...always told it was..." "Large" capacity centre fire rifle mags are prohibited devices. It's a Criminal Code regulation.
Shotgun tube mags over 5 rounds are rare. A shotgun mag extension being evil only applies to a semi-auto.
"...Enfield was exempt because..." It's exempt due to the large numbers of natives using them.
Most countries tried to turn their existing PBI rifle into a semi just after W.W. I. The Brits did make a semi-auto conversion of the No. 1 MK III, but it didn't work well. All kinds of pieces sticking out.

As set out in Criminal Code Regulations, some large-capacity magazines are prohibited regardless of the class of firearm to which the magazines are attached. As a general rule, the maximum magazine capacity is:

* 5 cartridges for most magazines designed for a semi-automatic centre-fire long gun; or
* 10 cartridges for most handgun magazines

A large-capacity magazine is not prohibited if it has been permanently altered so that it cannot hold more than the number of cartridges allowed by law. Acceptable ways to alter a magazine are set out in the regulations.

There is no limit to the magazine capacity for semi-automatic rim-fire long guns, or for other long guns that are not semi-automatics.

Nope. Anything other than semi is exempt from restrictions. If someone started manufacturing 30 round banana clips for Rem 700's tomorrow, you could use em. Your comment on the M1 being exempt from the 5 round semi rule is correct.

No. It's in the exempt category due to there was a conversion to make an Enfield into a semi auto rifle as you stated. Nothing to do with natives.
