Alright I was looking around online and couldn't find any pics of the mag so I figured I'd ask here.

All the No.5 pics I've seen look like they use standard no.4 mags, so do they or is it just that the gun owners don't have the original mags for their No.5's?

I ask because I have 3 enfield mags and well "one of these things is not like the others"

Now is it a Standard no.5 mag or did someone modify it to make it fit the No.5 better (or is it for something else all together)?

Feel free to flame me for my ignorance.

The No 4 and No 5 mags are totally interchangeable.

All 3 mags are No 4 or No 5 mags.

I've seen Jungle Carbines with matching number mags so that is the only thing to watch for, a mismatched number. But any good No 4 mag will work perfectly in a No 5.

A few different companies made No 4 mags and I've seen ones like the one with the 2 dimples before but not sure who made it.

Well if I place the other 2 in the no.5 they wobble front to back slightly, but the 2 dimples hold tight. So I wondered if that was the reason for it.

Thanks for clarifying.

There WAS a Number 5-specific triggerguard which made the special dimpled mag more desirable.

Not all Number 5s have it, although mine does.

But 99% of Number 5s will accept and work just peachy-keen fine with a standard Number 4 mag...... and the reverse also is true.

Hope this helps.

(Waiting now for the catfight to start; I'm in the sock closet!)

All I can find out about this no.5 is that it seems to be an Indian refurb (fore stock screw) with a serial number in the 4000's. receiver is scrubbed but the top of a "5" is visible in approx the same location that the 4 on a no.4 would be. Apart from that it has the right sight and lightening "cuts" in all the right places.
