There were 4 different magazines for the older Lee-Enfields and they were all marked as such: 2, 3 or 4 stamped on the back of them. They all had the double ramp on their backs and the little spring riveted on. The NUMBER 4 mag has only the long upper locking-rib; it doesn't have a secondary rib or a little sprng or a rivet or anything like that. It's just a box with a single ramp-type locking rib brazed on. Real easy to tell them apart.
Not that it really matters a whole bunch; very often they will interchange. After all, they got it working absolutely perfectly in the older rifle, so all they really had to do was adapt the existing box to the new rifle..... which worked much the same way..... so that's what they did.
Magazine with the "4" on the back rib is correct for your rifle. And the Lee-Enfield is the only bolt rifle I have seen which will feed fired rounds almost perfectly; that's how they were able to get away with semi-finished cartridges for blanks. Nothing else will do it! Makes candle-practice with wax bullets real easy, too!
