Lee Enfield - Markings Question

Hello everyone! This is my first post, I was wondering if anyone knows what "msi*" means on the receiver? certainly doesnt loo like a Mk. I*. thats an S in my books.

Hi. The 'No.' looks like it may have been restamped at one time. Suspect the 'S' is a poorly stamped, underlined 'k'. Even though it does look like an 'S'.
Go here for markings, etc. Look at Part One, General Information Markings page 2. Near the bottom, top row, right side picture.
