I have two of these which are both marked BSA 1918. I am parting with one and want to keep the mag which is most appropriate. Can someone advise which one? Mag #1 - follower is pinned in two places and is marked with a "3" and broad arrow with letters under "EFD--" bottom catch is broken off and replaced with a pinned piece of spring steel marked on this projection E and the rest illegible...bottom almost flat. Mag #2 - follower not pinned and not marked ....mag catch marked Crown over 7 over II over WD...below that B5..bottom of mag more rounded shape...almost looks like it has specks of a coating like black paint on it. Thanks.....Dave

If the back looks like this picture your ok, nothing broken.

this is a normal mag for the No1 enfield, and sounds like what your describing for mag #1

now the other mag your describing sounds like a No4 mag

and if the rifle you have is a 1918 BSA then the first mag is the proper mag for the rifle and the second mag is actually for a No4 enfield.

Hope this helps

?

what !

I think your not looking at what you think your looking at :)

Just my opinion, do what you want :)

but just to make my last point clear this

magN4.jpg

is not the proper mag for your rifle.

this is

so unless you are talking about something else being pinned I can't help you without pictures or a better explination

but then I don't know too much about enfields. :)

Pinned.....

Woodchopper.....one is pinned as the one you show while the other has a mag catch which is moulded.....actually they each have two catches one at the top and one at the bottom. The pinned one I have looks like a field repair as the bottom catch is broken off and replaced with the pinned catch. Boy...I read this over many times and hope it's not too confusing. Thanks for your help. I have decided to keep the one which is not pinned. No-one addressed the fact that one appears to have been painted while the other is blued. Thanks, Dave

thanks John I thought I was loosing my mind :)

I'll go thru my pile of No1 mags to see if I can find one as you describe without a pinned on spring. But the one I have in the picture is normal, thats why I'm getting confused.
