Good day,

I recently have inheirited a No.1 MkIII Rifle, and am wishing to restore it. Although it is not in my possesion yet. I do know the Barrel and bolt match, and it has not been sporterized (thank goodness). It did not have a magazine, but recently aquired one form a CGN member. The stock is beat up pretty bad, requiring me to order a complete one from Numrich.

Anyways, getting to my point...Is there a source somewhere I can get a sling that matches, and a bayonet as well? I noticed that some slings actually have country markings on it. I would like to stay with original, however it may not be easy aquiring i realize. How realistic is that? Should I have just ordered from Numrich when I got the stock?

Hi. Check the headspace before you spend any money. Even if the numbers match. If it's bad, fixing it will be expensive. Requires a handful of bolt heads(at $22 each from Marstar) to try with headspace guages until you find one that gives safe headspace.
"...and a bayonet..." Pattern 1907 bayonets have gotten expensive. Close to $100Cdn. for one in decent condition. Gun shows are the place to look.
The sling is the same as a No. 4 Mk I.
 
I would recomend that you just keep it in its original stock.

the new stock your going to get from Numerich is not going to match very well and might be an ishy stock with the cross screw.

The original stock (forends) are cracked/chipped, and the price of a complete set was actually cheaper than just getting 2 forends, and hoping that they match/ don't have the cross screw. I am hoping the set I ordered does not have this either.

I know the rifle was fired by the last 2 previous owners. But will check the headspace anyways.

I don't mind spending the $$ on a decent bayonet. I just need to do the above without investing too muxh into the project. I already mentioned a stock set was ordered.
