I've recently purchased a Longbranch No 4 mk 1* Lee Enfield at the Lethbridge gun show. It is stamped "Longbranch" on the body and the serial number has an L in it which I believe makes it a Canadian rifle, but on the "wrist" it is stamped "england" just above the serial number. It has been sporterized by someone in the past and I belive it was done by Parker Hale so is this where the conflicting stamping comes from? On the Barrel are numerous stamps and proofs including the Canadian "C" with the little Arrow in it? but no Serial number on the barrel, could it be under the forestock? There is no engraving on the right hand side of the "wrist" only a little HP stamped near the bolt. If anyone has any tips or info for me that would be great.
