Good day,

I thought I would pick the collective Gun Nutz brain and ask what a fair price would be for a genuine British No. 4 Mk. 1 (T) would be?

- the rifle is correctly marked and set up and is in very good condition
- good headspace on a #1 bolt head
- comes with Mark III scope with metal carrying case and leather sling of correct pattern
- scope is serviceable, but could stand a cleaning
- also has a reproduction scope mount with it so a modern scope could be used in place of the original

What is a reasonable price to pay for it?

Thanks and cheers!

That repro scope mount is the deal killer. If the NRA condition is excellent throughout $2300. Price drops from their depending on condition. You don't mention if it comes with a proper transit chest. IMHO a no4 MKI T without a transit chest isn't complete.

The repro scope mount is in addition to the original mount.

The rifle is all matching and was manufactured by BSA Shirley. It was one of the rifles that was imported and mismatched in the process. The scope and mount, while original, do not match the rifle.

The condition is, as stated, very good:

"Very Good

Firearms must be in working order and retain approximately 92 percent metal and wood finish. It must be 100 percent factory original, but may have some small repairs, alterations, or non- factory additions. No refinishing is permitted in this category. Both modern and antique firearms are included in this classification."

I sold an original MATCHING (T) last year w/o the case for $4,800.00. Mismatched I'd drop the price $1000-$1500 depending on condition and accessories attached.

There was a similar thread recently - prices vary - Longbranch rifles fetch higher prices than British rifles. If you have all the accessories such as the compass etc. you have even more value.

Literally a fair price is $2500-12K

I know that is a pretty wide price point - but 'that is how the cookie crumbles'.

Judging by the EE anything under $1 million is a good deal!

I bought a complete No.4Mk1(T) for $600.00, (Yes, Six Hundred Dollars) from my Uncle in Grande Prairie.

I guess I did OK.

What is a reasonable price to pay for it?

My advice is, don't pay a cent more than I did, until you sell!

People ask all kinds of weird and wonderful prices for Brit T's. As for what they actually sell for...that's a bit tougher.

A matching one is certainly worth more.

Pics very helpful.
