Lee Enfield No 4 Sniper rifles - price from 1968

I have a 7.62 NATO No4 with scope, scope metal green box and chest that I bought at San Francisco Pawn Brokers in Vancouver as a 303. Took it out with the 303 shells and it wouldn't work. Took it home and cleaned it up and the barrel at the front sight is marked 7.62 NATO

The first Lewis Gun I bought about 1960 was $65 and came complete with a wooden chest, anti-aircraft sights, five drums, and about 30 pounds of spare parts, including a new barrel.

Ye Olde Hunter. That brings back memories. When living in Southern Ontario, a friend and myself went down to Alexandria, Virginia and bought some Lee-Enfield Sniper rifles. They were $49.95 complete with case and at the time, the Canadian Dollar was worth about $1.15 U.S.

I also bought a lot of other stuff, including a 25mm Puteaux Anti-Tank Gun, with ammo for it for $149. We pulled up to the Customs at Fort Erie and the guy on duty came out, asked us what we had, and what was under the tarp in the back of the pickup. When told a Cannon, he asked to see it so we took the tarp off. He said, "Boy, is that ever neat!" I forget what we had to pay in Duty, but I think it was in the neighborhood of 4% on the whole load of stuff we had.

On Saturday, I was taken back 60 years, when we had a "Get-together" for some of the Manitoba-Saskatchewan Milsurps Members at Virden, Mb. John at Wolverine supplies hauled out his 25mm Puteaux (Hotchkiss), and fired a few rounds down the range.
