I recently got a 1915 bsa no1 mk3* that was as far as I can tell was desporterized albeit poorly now I'm in the process of fixing the shortcomings to get it as close to 100% as possible. One of those short comings is the upper handguard where the metal end meets the wood was almost sanded into oblivion so I'm going to build it up with walnut veneer and re rivet is the only problem is I need the rivets which i can't seem to find. An option I was going to explore was getting some brass nails and cutting them down then mushrooming the end to make a makeshift rivet. Any ideas on a source for rivets or something better than cut down nails.

Well I took a look at numrich and all they had were the rivets for the spring clip of the upper rear hand guard so I decided to make my own and over the course of a couple days with a lot of trial and error I finally found success. Below I posted pics of the finished veneer repair and the mounted metal cap.
