I picked up this rifle for a desporting project.

On closer inspection I noticed these two drilled and tapped holes

I am very familiar with British army sights that were general issue during the 1990s SUSATs still haunt my dreams but I'm not familiar with the no32 sight. Does anybody who has a no32 or knows if I'm correct in my appraisal. I will still be desportirising but does it make sense to get a repo no 32 sight and do these sights come with the right screws. I'm guessing the screws might be a BA thread on the rifle if it is a RAOC (Royal Army Ordnance Corps REME wasn't formed till 1942) conversion.

Those 2 holes are not for any military sniper sights and definitively not for a No32 scope mount.
They are for a civilian mount of some kind and unless i'm mistaking no one knows for sure which brand (unless we get some input by some ''old timers'' like Smelly or Buffdog)
They are not rare at all.
I suspect it is also ''unique'' to Canadian sporters, quite possibly a Canadian made sporter mount… because i once showed a picture of the exact same holes to a friend in the USA (Georgia to be exact) that has been collecting Enfields for 40 years and he told me he had never seen tapped holes in those exact locations.

Since that's a No1 Mk3, they would not have used a No32 scope anyways. I believe they had scopes made by Aldis, Periscope Prism co. etc. The No32 wasnt installed on the Enfield until the No4 sniper trials.
