Lee Enfield No5 value

Given that the forend and the bayo lug were cut, it's now officially a forever-sporter. So from about a potential $800 to $1000, sadly it now is worth less than half of that.

What a shame. Significantly devalued for sure.

I always wondered what was gained by it on this rifle, r any rifle for that matter. If only they knew back then what they would be worth, but I guess when you could buy them out of a barrel at the local hardware store not many ever thought of the future

If you could put proper forend wood on it id still bet 450 to 500 these days easy. Seen lots of no5 with no bayonet lug still go for more than you'd think.

But, locating wood thats reasonable....

You would also have to replace the flash hider as the bayo lug has been cut off.

IMHO, unless you have that stuff on hand, it's going to cost you appx $350 or more, by the time the parts arrive.

It's hard to tell from your pics what else has been "modified"

Likely a complete stock set would be in order so likely over $400 if you can do the work yourself.

As it is, I personally wouldn't pay more than $300 for that rifle, if the bore is excellent and all stamped numbers match.

That rifle is dated 1945 so the fore end shouldn't have a metal reinforcing cap.

If you can find a cut down No4 stock, with enough wood in front of the ferrule, you may be able to duplicate an original. Still, without a proper flash hider, it's not worth doing IMHO.

there are a lot of messed-up carbines out there. if your willing to wait, a parts doner will show up. I found one last week for a reasonable price.

Update. Took everything apart for a better look, recieved and bolt are matching series numbers, reciever, barrel and flash hider all stamped with M470. Can't see anything on mag
