Hello I'm wondering if any of you have had a similar issue I have a smle that magazine wobbles all the way around it's locked in but it's still wobbles.
I shake the rifle and it makes a rattling noise, I load it to capacity and it lessens the noise, but it still makes a little, any fixes??

Try another mag would seem to be the simple fix.

I looked inside the receiver on the front and the little nub that engages the magazine might be a wee bit worn down but it Wiggles side to side up and down my other one's not like this I might have to dismantle and check it out
 
Take the magazine to a welder and get a bit TIG welded to the rib, where the mag release/retaining latch contacts it. Then file it down to where it fits "tight"

Of course, I don't have to tell you to do this carefully? Much cheaper fix than a new magazine. Latches are cheap but add shipping costs etc.
 
OP, maybe have to understand that in 1900 did not see the detachableness of that magazine as something to do. Was meant to live in the rifle, until the rifle torn down for cleaning. Meant to be fed with chargers - stripper clips. Magazines were NOT slapped in and pulled out every day. Not an M14 or an M16. Totally different thought and design, although apparently lost on a lot of users today. Some considerable fussing needed to adjust the front feed lips - then, they are easily bent or distorted when magazine inserted. When done up correctly, the SMLE feeds so slick, I have had to open the bolt to confirm that a cartridge actually did come out and chamber - that is, it can or should be very, very slick when set up correctly.

I have seen an attempt to "break" a Mad Minute record on U-tube - the guy had an assistant passing him freshly loaded magazines - is not how it was done - rifles were reloaded with chargers - a foreign thought today, apparently.
