Lee Enfield Qustions??

Hi all,

I have two Lee Enfield No1 MkIII rifles, One uses a No1 MkIII magazine and the other has what looks like a No.4 Magazine, but it fits prefecly into only one of my my No.III rifles.

Are No.4 Mags suposed to fit into No1 Mk3rifles???

Not really, but sometimes you get lucky. About 95% of the time, you don't. And they might fit, but not feed properly.

On the Number 1 Mark III rifle magazine, the indented ribs come all the way to the bottom of the magazine. On the Number 4 rifle magazine, the ribs end about 1/4 inch from the bottom.

The magazine for the No4 Lee enfield has the raised ridge on its rear face only half way. For the No1Mk3, it's goes from top to bottom.

Okay great, Looks like Its one of those 5% that fit/feed fine.
