Hi
So a friend of mine has one available and 'maybe' willing to let this go. There's plenty of info online about this rifle, but I can't seem to find any indication what I should be looking at regarding value..Doesn't appear this rifle comes up that often for sale in Canada..Maybe I'm wrong, but can't find any recently sold....He had $1500 in mind...Its in very good condition & all original...What do you 'Enfield aficionados' think on this one..?

Thanks in advance.....

I also have a No 9 and they are relatively scarce because few were made and they were not issued in Canada. I have seen 3 or so over my years as an Enfield collector. Having said that I don't think they are as desirable to collectors here as the C No. 7. $1500 seems a little high to me. On the other hand where are you going to get another if you want one? My advice would be to dicker a little, but if you want it grab it as they are rarely available for sale. The last one I saw was being carried around on someone's back at the Calgary gun show a few years back. I think the owner was asking around a $1000 for it. Not badly priced, but not tempting enough when you have 1 already.

Appreciate your input and I agree with your comments. He's fairly set on the price and thinks he could possibly get more, but I don't think I'd be prepared to go to that...Desirable yes, but not at $1500...thanks..

Enfields in 22 caliber are very desirable for collector and shooters. CNo7's for example ...clones on relined no4 barrels, no transit chest $1000; clone with correct barrel $1500 and real deal depending on condition and accessories $2000 to 3000. Brit No9 although rare in Canada is desirable to a collector and $1500 is not out of line. Same for No8's and if you have a Brit No7 (with repeater mag) that's a whole different story....big bucks. Again its what the buyer/seller come to terms on....I've seen a lot of junk for good money and a lot of remorse thereafter. Buy wisely. Ask lots of questions.

Cheers for the comments...All duly noted...

I have both a NZ No 8 with PH5C sights and a Navy No 9 that I purchased here on Gun Nutz. Other than the No 8's rotten butt pad which is I'm told is a common problem on No 8s, they were both in decent shape. I paid less than 1K for each, so in my opinion unless the No 9 is in almost new condition, 1,500 is to high.

Cheers Mark

At the end of the day it's an issue of supply and demand ultimately boiling down to deciding what it's worth to you.

There was a very nice number 9 for sale on here 6 months ago that hung around for 6 months at 1200 bucks and eventually sold. Not sure what the final price was.

I paid $1000 for one last year . i have several Lee Enfield Trainers . i would have spent more as a collector if need be .
all depends on how much you want it . they really dont appear in Canada . i have only seen a couple , and bought the one i got my paws on .
as been mentioned before , the Navy contract is nothing special . unlike the RAF version with the working magazine .
but at the end of the day no matter what it costs now , it will never get cheaper.

A superb line up there...Great to see.

Thanks to everyone for their input. I love to collect Enfields and at the end of the day just have to figure out what its worth 'to me'....I'm not a huge .22 collector (only have a CNo7) and prefer .303, but at the same time they all fit into the Enfield military rifle 'family' (whilst also cheap and fun to shoot) A local range has rim fire night on a Wednesday which is good fun.

Heading to the Victoria gun show at the end of this month, so will see what's on offer there before deciding on the N 9

Thanks again....

Great line up love to see all those side by side! Nice 87M you don't see very often. Technically never military adopted trainer but I love mine, still in mint condition with original sling.

To me, a No 9 for $1500 is a very fair price. I'd be happy to pay that for one in VG+ condition with an Exc bore.
I've never seen a No 9 for sale anywhere, but, for comparison, No 8's in the UK go for $2K to $2.5K Cdn.
