Anyone have any idea what this side mount is for?
I bought it on Ebay months ago. The seller said it is for a Lee Enfield No4 but the scope does not sit directly over the bore. it is off center to the left about 1/4-3/8 inch, I have not mounted it on the rifle . I'm wondering if the mount is for a different rifle. The notch on the side seems to fit good with the LE ejector screw.

Weaver #1 side mount base with short rings. Could be used on many flat sided rifles, although mainly listed for curved sided receivers like Remington 700 or Winchester 70 - find a weaver scope base chart and you'll see the applications. That one looks like someone had it on a Lee Enfield #4. If it is offset slightly, you will never be able to tell if you sight in about 150 or 200 yards - that 1/4" to 3/8" will get lost in the 2 MOA group size. Looks to be the "old" style rings - you will have to cut out a notch if you use it for a scope that has a bulge where the scope turrets sit - newer style of those rings have about a 1/4" clearance.

The thing is, you'll need to D&T a receiver to use that setup.

And, it doesn't put the scope on the centreline anyway.

Why do that when there are so many no gunsmithing mounts available these days?
