Lee Enfield Target .22 - Going to kick myself for passing, but it needs a home...

If you don't want to keep it - I'll take it off your hands for $1200.... :)

Awesome.

I just wanted to see it go to a good home. Post pics and let us know how she shoots.

I'll be kicking myself for years to come for not risking the wrath of the wife and tapping the line of credit, but the timing just wasn't right. I'm glad it's going to someone who'll give it the respect it deserves, instead of gathering dust hidden behind the counter at Crown.

I was the CO of our local Army Cadet Corps when our support base in Trenton ordered the return of the 5 No 7's that were on our Scale of Issue. They were all in very good condition. We made sure that the Cadets had the opportunity to use them at least twice a year right up till the end. Use was authorized on approved civilian ranges under control of a DND small bore RSO. Our Cadets fired them the day they were picked up and their last hands on duty was cleaning them for return to Trenton.
We were told that they would be converted for DP use only. This was 5 or 6 years ago.
I also remember the 60's when my High School Cadet Corps had over 100 Cooey Model 82's stored in racks next to the rifle range under the gym. Used for Drill with Arms training. Now some school boards will not allow Cadet Flag Parties to attend Remembrance Day services with DP rifles on school property.
Times have changed.

All that and when I first went to cadet camp in the sixties at 15 years old, I was handed am Fn. Not dp. Fully functional and ready to go. Our big parade at the end of the summer camp saw hundreds of teenage kids marching with battle rifles and bayonets.
Times have changed and not for the better.

.
There are currently over 10,000 Cno7s either still being held by Army or Air cadet units, or else the bulk of them held between the two CF depots. Even Colt Canada is holding some for some reason.

It would be a real shame if they all end up in the smelters, but that is likely where they will go.

did someone mention Lee Enfield trainers? you cant have just one

Man you have me beat. I only have two Cno7's, two No8's and a No9.
The #9 is a rare one. There wasnt that many made also the #7 raf contract even harder ti find in Canada . Most C#7 i seen are in minty condition and well looked after . Im thinking the ones released to public in 60's may have been un issued ones. . I talked to local cadet unit theirs were sent off and returned as DP

40 yrs ago Crown Surplus was quite the place to buy guns. A buddy and I split a case of unissued Savage No4s from them. I think they were around $30 a pop. I still have a 1942 LB receiver that I bought from them for $10 and used to build up a nice No4. Another popular MILSURP emporium in Calgary at the time was Ribtor Sales. I bought all of a M1917 Enfield, M1903 Springfield, M98 Mauser and an M1 Garand from them. The bolt guns were in the $35-$40 range and the Garand was around $70 if my memory serves me correctly. They also had a lot of cheap MILSURP ammo. On another note the old Super S Drugs was even selling US GI .30 cal AP ammo in Garand clips.:sok2

When Gordie got his Churchill tank, made the Calgary Herald. Bought my first .303 from Ribtor. 9.99. Good to have a paper route in those days. ;)

Grizz

Well for $900 I couldn't resist.
As near as I can tell the rifle is original (except for perhaps the sights - maybe an old time full bore guy changed out the sights for his winter training regime to more closely match those used in SR at the time?)
Dunno, what I do know is that about 8 years ago I passed on a minty parts No.7 complete for $700 and they quickly climbed in price just after that. f:P:2:

Will post up some pictures in a separate thread:cheers:

Standing by!
