Today I saw another LE that I'm not sure of, and I'm stumped. No pics but here's what I know.

It's C-broad arrow stamped on the receiver, has an empty mag cut-off slot, stripper clip lug, barrel sight, and has the old style round bolt knob.

Stamped on the butt-socket: L.S.A, GR, 1915, 22 MK IV?.... which I've never heard of.

Appreciate your input.

Sounds right - Burnt, what does the bolt face and chamber look like? If they are for .22 rimfire caliber, you have a training rifle :)

IIRC these were .303's that were converted into .22

It musta been converted/bubba'd back to 303 then, because the bore was definitely 30 cal. And it never even occurred to me to check the boltface.
I wasn't aware that they actually stamped "22" on the wrist?
... I'll have to go back with my camera so i can share.

Hmm, happened to me once too - .22 tramped on the wrist, but definitely centrefire; so a .303 turned into a .22, turned back into a .303... although I find that kind of weird.

BTW, it shouldn't be .30 cal., but .303 British - unless it's a gunsmith special project...

I think he was speaking generally, as in it was obviously not a .22

Here's a better one. Martini Henry cavalry carbine in 577-450, BUT on the left side of the reciever,
"Converted for the NRA by WW. Greener"
So a .45 converted to .22 converted to .45;)

Either that, or this is one they started but never got to the point of actualy doing the conversion.
