Lee Hand Loading my 44MAG and a small issue

I had a bunch of empty 44 brass. Firts time reloader so I figured I'd try to reload it. Now when I go through all the steps, size,de-prime and prime all goes well; but putting the bullet in is a differnt problem. Now I drop the bullet in and falls all the way down. The tip of bullet is now below the top opening of the brass. I ended up using some needle nose pliers to lightly pinch the brass at the bullet crimp to hold it so I could finish crimp. any thoughts?

Winchester metallic components
44 cal (44-40)
200 gr sp
component bullet
100 each
wb44sp200

dia of bullet .4250" off my vernier

the kit I have is a Lee Loader Pistol 44 Mag

As the instructions stated, I put the brass in the Body to size. Tap it down flush in the body. Then put the primer in.

I reloaded my 45 and that was a joy. 44 is another story right now.

44-40 is a no go, close but no cigar.
 
I'll post a pic tomorrow, I have everything away right now. I guess the guy at Wholesale Sports in Edmonton sold me the wrong bullets.:kickInTheNuts:well the next set should be fun. lol
any body need some bullets. lol

if I managed to crimp the brass and seat the bullets can I still shoot the 30 or so I made, or is it a no-no? if its a no-go what do I do with them?

44-40 bullets are .427
while
44 magnum bullets are .429 , .430

in other words, your bullets are way too small!


PS you can always try some crazy clue, apparently they have it at
Al Simmons gun store... :D:D:D

Hopefully for you it is a lesson learned. What you need to do first and foremost is BUY A MANUAL! And read it! And Consult it constantly! Don't EVER take the advice of a guy at a retail store. That could end up costing you an expensive firearm, or an Eye, etc etc. The reloading manual is the most important item in any reloaders inventory.

Do your research before you go to the store-reading a reloading manual like Hornady, Speer, Nosler etc-figure out what you need. Believe it or not the guys behind the counter may not know everything about reloading! Good luck in the future!

There's a shock! My girlfriend listens just enough when I babble about reloading that she puts them in their place when she goes to get me x-mas goodies. She argued with them one time about a powder choice. Another time she wanted a .451 round ball mold.....the guy tells her "this will work" and it was something starting with .3 I can only imagine the look that poor guy got from that one.:eek:
