Lee Load master vs.....

I am considering getting back into reloading and looking at some progressive presses. The Lee Load master comes with 5 stages, case feed, primer feed, and powder measure for under $400. The Dillon 650xl and the Hornady lock and load AP are around $800 +/- and don't have the case feed. It is a separate expensive option. It seems pretty obvious which one is the economic choice or am I missing something? From what I have read, they all have their problems which are easily fixed. Is it just a case of Corvette vs Cruze? They all complete the same task but the Lee is not as smooth or pretty to look at?

I own three 650s and if they are maintained properly they are flawless. Also you can't beat there warranty should anything break which is rare. Shooting buddy's have switched from lee to Dillon and they all wish they did it sooner.

Dillon XL650 gets my vote for a great press and equally great service..

I can say the same of Hornady progressives too.... 25+ years old with over 300k reloads, still chugging

From the research I have done myself, the LEE progressives seem to require the most "tweaks" and adjustment to keep them running smoothly. The hornady seems to require "tweaks" as well. Dillon usually comes out as the most reliable but does have its own issues. For me, I have decided on a Dillon product but if I was looking at something other than Dillon, it would most likely be the hornady. LEE wouldn't be on my radar at all.

The quality of finished ammo you will make with any of them is the same given your attention to detail...the big difference is the amount of time you will take to make & re-make such ammo...the time required using a bullet puller because of pooched, crushed, upside down primers will diminish considerably with the amount of money you spend.

I have used both a Loadmaster & 650 extensively and can say that if you have the patience of Jobe you will get along fine with the Loadmaster but if you have no patience are easily frustrated a Loadmaster is not for you.
